Magnet Pizza Madness is a monthly incentive program design to acknowledge students who are making academic improvement. Students are nominated by their teachers and surprised with a sponsored luncheon. The event was a success and we look forward to seeing who will be nominated next month!

Lincoln's Thanksgiving Day Proclamation (11/25/2009)
Thanksgiving was first celebrated by the settlers at Plymouth in the Massachusetts colony in 1621 under the leadership of Governor William Bradford. Washington and Madison each issued a Thanksgiving proclamation once during their Presidencies. It was not until 1863, however, when Lincoln issued his Thanksgiving Day Proclamation that the holiday was established as a national annual event, occurring on the last Thursday of November. The first observance of the national holiday came one week after the dedication of the Soldiers National Cemetery at Gettysburg. 8th Grade Best!!!! (11/18/2009)
The top 3 male and female nominees have been determined and Round 2 of 8th Grade Best begins on Thursday, November 19th. Each 8th grader gets ONE vote. Surveys will be conducted in every 8th grade advisory and each student must vote for one male and one female from each category. Round 2 will end on Wednesday, November 25th and the winners will be announced on Monday, November 30th during Advisory.

Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) is coming to SGMS. (9/24/2009)
PIQE is a nine week course where parents receive training on strategies to promote academic achievement in school and at home.
Three Institutes will be held for parents of SGMS students:
